What do you hope to gain from your internship with IAM Robotics?

I enjoy robots of all kinds, but most of the robots I’ve been exposed to operate in known environments with a lot of assumptions (static environment, lighting, no humans). One of the key insights an internship with IAM Robotics can provide me is exposure to the thought processes and design decisions that go into creating a reliable and useful robot that works in real world environments.

What are some cool things you have done while working at IAM Robotics?

I have worked on adding some new functionality in the robot simulator to more closely mirror how the actual robots work in real life.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy working on personal projects, playing with my dog outside, and working out.

What are your professional goals after completing your education?

I am very interested in complete autonomy and how it can relieve humans of dull, dirty, and dangerous work. My future goals are to either work at a startup that makes autonomous systems or found one myself.

What are you listening to/reading/watching?

I enjoy listening to remixes/beats on SoundCloud; and watching Top Gear, Planet Earth, Blue Planet

Has anything surprised you about working at IAM Robotics?

I’ve gotten to learn a lot more about warehouse automation and I’ve been surprised at how large the market for robotic automation is and how fast it is evolving.
